WELCOME
TO
YUNG CHI CHOWS
I first discovered Chows in the '80's. One day as I was
leaving a small town near my home I saw a young man in a jeep heading into town with the
most awesome creature I had ever seen sitting in the passenger seat. Of course, I had to
turn around and find out what breed this lovely dark mahogany creature was. Well, it
turned out to be a Chow Chow and thus my love for the breed started. Some say my
obsession, I say my passion. I set about trying to locate one of these unique dogs.
Although, you really can't say they're "dogs" as such, as their nature is more
catlike.
They are known as the cats of the dogworld.
Thus began Stoney Acres Chows and the quest that brought me to life. My mother always told
people,"You want to see her light up, just ask her about her dogs." See, I'm
usually a quiet person, but ask me about my Chows and I forget how shy I am.
Unfortunately, my husband at the time didn't appreciate my love of these dogs and told me
to get rid of them or we would get a divorce. As this was not the first time he had told
me if I didn't quit doing something he didn't approve of we would get a divorce, I just
told him to go for it. So, we divorced, but my love for the Chows continues to this day.
Since I had to re-build my life and could no longer afford to keep the dogs, I had to
place them in homes. For many years I struggled to put myself through school and acquire
some skills with which to support myself. I am now in a field that I love and doing quite
well, so what was one of the first things I did? I now have some more Chows. I have
acquired some good specimens of the breed. My goal is to try and produce top quality
smooths and creams with black noses. Thus, Yung Chi Chows has begun. Yung Chi means
courageous. It took every bit of courage I could muster to get through the past ten years,
so I feel the name is very appropriate.
I hope you enjoy my babies as much as I do and come back to visit often. I will be
breeding on a very limited basis, so I may not have pups when you inquire; but I may know
of someone who has a litter on the ground at the time.
